The Choice between a Qualified Professional owned company VS UnQualified Owned Contractor
The cons to a client of using unqualified professional owned businesses outweighs the Pros

Qualified Professional VS Unqulified Contractor

I have a Qualification in the Engineering and Built Environment as a Construction Manager and have worked in numerous companies and Projects as a Quantity Surveyor and as a Project Manager. As a norm most contractors we used to employ were predominantly white owned by a Male who inherited the business from their father and weret ideally qualified however had many years of experience and knew what they were doing.

However there were alway areas of lack, and that in the documentation and admin front, which always resulted in disputes and contractual irregularities, they disregarded the project costs and we had countless Variation orders to deal with. As I transitioned to work for myself there were projects where we would be called to measure as different businesses and you then realize that most owners of construction businesses are not qualified; they are running the businesses through use of new interns and also connections.

The cons to a client of using unqualified professional owned businesses outweighs the Pros, for instance, as Professionals we are accountable to councils and regulatory bodies unlike our unqualified counterparts. We have experience with many projects and are not chance takers. We don't rely on connections in our political affiliations for work but we qualify based on merit, we provide a service that goes beyond doing the work for clients, we cater to their rights and advice on various possible measures available for them. as a client always seeks to work with individuals who know what they are doing and what they are talking about.

When choosing a contractor choose yourself first and decide from there onwards what the next best step will be.
