Hirsch's Silverlakes

"In 1979, Allan and Margaret Hirsch set up their first shop in a tiny showroom, no bigger than a bathroom, in Umhlanga Rocks Drive, Durban. Allan was a fridge repair mechanic and Margaret a secretary. Together they set out to build one of the most successful Independently owned, appliance and electronics outlets in Southern Africa, with thirteen branches and six concept stores scattered throughout the provinces of the Cape, KZN and Gauteng. Despite the economic recession in the country, Hirsch’s continue to expand.
Both Allan and Margaret are still integrally involved in the company, from dealing with customer queries on the floor to travelling widely overseas to bring new concepts to the business. The Hirsch’s, both individually and as a company have won multiple business awards in South Africa over the years. They are a solid partnership, with strong family values, and a solid work ethic that they instill in their staff. "
