So now you have found the right dishwasher for your needs. It now needs to be installed in your kitchen or scullery or wherever else it is suitable and handy. Types of Dishwashers

Dishwashers do not differ dramatically from each other, though there are freestanding and built in varieties. The primary difference is that freestanding models will have a cover on the top. Dishwashers normally will be of a typically ‘standard’ height, depth and width – with minor variations between manufacturers. This is to ensure that most models will fit into pre-designed spaces. There are also compact dishwashers, typically half the size of a regular model which are suited to compact kitchens or for single households.  So don’t worry too much about size but even with saying that always measure the space where you want the dishwasher to fit into and take those dimensions with you when you visit your friendly retailer.

The cost of installing a dishwasher is typically a flat fee. Expect to pay in the region of R400 for installation of a dishwasher. This fee will however vary depending on the type of installation. Swopping out or upgrading a unit will typically be covered by this, but anything outside this scope – such as providing new power points and installing plumbing - will involve additional costs. Always get a quote before work starts and make sure that your installer has all the necessary qualifications or you could be you could be voiding the warranty of your appliance as well as your insurance cover if it is installed incorrectly.
